Places Pulled
Assembly House, Leeds

10 - 13 September 2026

Pulling at the tether between place and memory, Places Pulled depicts shared public spaces, commonplaces that are often left out of the sequence of recollection. This collection of paintings brings a focus to the transactional and transitional public spaces which become the overlooked backdrops of our repeated routines and journeys.

Through an approach informed by memory processes of encoding and retrieval, Maxwell considers how we recall place. Everyday structures and spaces are reconstructed as she invites us to dwell as if on a streetcorner, leaning within a doorway or waiting at the bus stop.

Places Pulled was Zoe Maxwell's debut solo exhibition.
